By Akhtar M. Nikzad-KABUL: A number of civil society activists and scores of protestors on Sunday asked Wolesi Jirga to summon the security officials for their negligence regarding the deadly incident in Jarliz district of Maidan Wardak province, where more than 30 Afghan Local Policemen (ALP) were killed by the Taliban insurgents and tens of other are still missing.
The activists said that due to political differences between two leaders in the National Unity Government (NUG) insecurity had increased in the country. They said that outskirts of Kabul City were insecure as well.
They said the painful incident of Jarliz was result of the government negligence because after three days of fighting between local police and the Taliban, the security organizations did not provide support to the ALP, and finally they were brutally beheaded by the militant group.
Last week on Wednesday night, hundreds of armed Taliban stormed ALP posts in Jarliz district of Maidan Wardak. After three days of resistance, the Taliban killed 30 local policemen while scores of others are still missing.
Jarliz district is 50km away from the capital Kabul.
It is said that local policemen asked the security agencies repeatedly for backup, but the concerned authorities failed to provide support to the ALP against the insurgents.
