Ammunition cache seized in Herat

AT-KABUL: The National Directorate of Security (NDS) on Saturday said that an ammunition cache of terrorists was discovered and confiscated in western Herat province.

In a statement, the NDS said that its operatives managed to discover and confiscate an ammunition cache in the Naw Abad area.

“The cache included 51 AK-47 assault rifles, 19 automatic weapons, 71 pistols and various other types of ammunition and explosives, discovered and seized from a truck through an operation,” the statement said.

It added that the weapons were loaded skillfully in a truck and the insurgents wanted to carry them from Ghor province to Herat.

Two terrorists were detained in this regard, identified as Haji Akhtar Gul and Bakht Mohammad, the statement underlined it.

The terrorist planned to conduct terrorist activities in Herat province, which was thwarted by NDS forces, noted the statement.
