Covid-19 cases in Afghanistan jump past 33k

KABUL: With 239 new positive cases in the last 24 hours, Afghanistan now officially has 33,190 coronavirus cases across the country. The Ministry of Public Health on Monday said that out of 668 suspected samples, 239 were positive.

34 coronavirus patients have lost their lives to the virus, and 737 others recovered during this period, according to the ministry.

90 cases were recorded in Kabul, 51 in Ghazni, 23 in Herat, 16 in Bamyan, nine in Baghlan, eight in Balkh, seven in Kandahar, six in Zabul and five cases each in Logar and Kunduz provinces.

Similarly, four cases were reported in Kunar, three in Parwan, three in Laghman, three in Panjshir, two in Helmand, two in Samangan and one case each in Takhar and Nangarhar provinces.

The total recoveries have reached to 20,103 and the deaths are 898 across the country since the outbreak of the virus started three months ago.
