KABUL: Burka district of northern Baghlan province fell to the Taliban, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Provincial Police Spokesman, Javid Basharat, said that the Taliban staged attacks on the district from multiple directions Tuesday night. “The security forces didn’t suffer casualties and retreated tactically,” he said.
According to Basharat, the security forces shifted posts to Tawshakh area of Nahrin district, assuring that military raids would be launched to retake Burka.
The Taliban have so far not said anything in regards. Burka is one of insecure districts in Baghlan that had been collapsed to the militants for many times.
The clashes have been continuing across the country as the Taliban seek to press the government amid the U.S. troop withdrawal that also rises concerns about the dangerous outcomes.
