KABUL: At least 51 militants were killed and 34 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Monday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Kandahar, Ghazni, Helmand, Urzgan, Paktika, Badghis and Logar provinces, in which 51 militants were killed and 34 others wounded.
Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During operations in the past 24 hours, 19 Taliban fighters were killed, 14 wounded and eight depots of Taliban destroyed in Maiwand district of Kandahar – 18 militants killed and 12 others wounded in Muqor, number-one highway and central part of Ghazni province – five rebels were killed and two others wounded in Marja district of Helmand – four insurgents killed and five others wounded in Gezab district of Uruzgan province.
Similarly, two militants were killed and two others wounded in Waza Khwa district of Paktika – two rebels killed and the enemies two hideout destroyed in Balamorghab district of Badghis and one insurgent was killed in Charkh district of Logar province.
In past 24 hours, 23 planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including 10 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
