Five Taliban fighters killed in Nangarhar
AT-KABUL: At least five Taliban members, including a commander, were killed Tuesday night in a special operation of the security forces in eastern Nangarhar province, said officials Wednesday.
National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives conducted the night raid against Taliban fighters in Nakarkhil area of Khogyani district last night, said Nangarhar governor Spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani.
One suspected person, who is believed to have link with the militants was also arrested during the operation, he added.
No casualty reported among the security forces and civilians during the operation.
Nangarhar province is home to both Taliban and Daesh groups. The militants are active in remote and mountainous areas of the districts from where they are conducting terrorist attacks in government controlled areas including Jalalabad the capital city of the province.
Jalalabad city in recent months has been witness of deadly suicide and complex attacks by both Taliban and Daesh that killed tens of citizens.
Security forces in recent months stepped up clearing operations and night raids to dismantle the militant groups, who are involved in terrorist and destructive attacks in the province.
