Interior Minister Haqqani Discusses Security and Refugee Affairs with UNAMA Head

AT Kabul:  Acting Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani engaged in discussions with UNAMA head Roza Otunbayeva, focusing on the Ministry of Interior’s efforts in security, the fight against drugs, and the repatriation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan, as per an Interior Ministry statement.

According to the statement, Otunbayeva acknowledged the global consensus on the need for comprehensive measures, including vocational training and alternative livelihoods, to combat drugs and support drug addicts. She emphasized the importance of providing necessary facilities to farmers for sustainable alternatives.

Minister Haqqani highlighted that the interim Afghan government has established facilities for returning refugees in various regions. Committees comprising employees from different departments have been assigned to manage affairs efficiently.

Emphasizing the significance of peace and stability in Afghanistan, Haqqani stated that the Islamic Emirate has taken sincere steps in its relations with neighboring countries. He stressed that past issues should not be attributed to the current government, and domestic concerns in neighboring nations should not adversely affect Afghan refugees abroad.

The meeting underscored the commitment to address security challenges, combat drug-related issues, and manage the repatriation process in an organized manner, promoting regional stability and cooperation.
