Iran executes four afghan nationals on drug charges

Kabul: Iran carried out the execution of four Afghan prisoners at Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad on Thursday, as documented by a human rights group. The detainees, known as Zaman Taheri, Salam Taheri, Gholam Qadir Samani, and Ebrahim Noorzahi, were apprehended in 2019 for drug-related offenses and subsequently given death sentences by the court. The execution of the Taheri siblings intensifies an already alarming situation, with Iranian authorities declining to address calls for transparency and accountability, leading to increased scrutiny and condemnation from human rights organizations.

Afghan refugees in Iran often live in constant fear of deportation in a hostile and unpredictable environment where their rights are frequently violated. The recent execution of Afghan prisoners underscores the urgent need for international attention and action to combat the systematic injustices endured by Afghan refugees in Iran, emphasizing the broader pattern of human rights abuses and advocating for accountability and justice for all affected individuals.
