Kabul refutes the US Media Claim of ISIS Threat to Diplomatic Area

Kabul: In reaction to a New York Times article concerning the potential threat posed by Daesh’s Khorasan branch targeting the embassies of China, India, and Iran in Afghanistan, the Islamic Emirate stated that their forces are actively pursuing Daesh.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, asserted that Daesh lacks the capability to launch attacks on diplomatic missions within Afghanistan. He further emphasized that efforts by foreign entities to heighten anxiety in order to diminish diplomatic engagements in Kabul would not succeed. He expressed confidence that Daesh does not possess the capability to conduct attacks in diplomatic zones due to the stringent security measures and specialized forces deployed in those areas.

After the violent attack by Daesh on a concert hall near Moscow in Krasnogorsk, the New York Times reported that the group has issued threats to target the embassies of China, India, and Iran within Afghanistan.

“The ISIS affiliate that American officials say was behind the deadly attack in Moscow is one of the last significant antagonists that the Taliban government faces in Afghanistan, and it has carried out repeated attacks there, including on the Russian Embassy, in recent years,” the report reads.

Additionally, Daesh has asserted responsibility for the assault near the Kabul Bank office in Kandahar, which, as per official accounts, led to three fatalities and twelve injuries.
