Karzai congratulates Teacher’s Day

Kabul: In a statement marking the Teacher’s Day, Former president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai extended congratulations to all teachers, commended their efforts and hard work in spreading knowledge and educating Afghan children.

He admitted teachers and professors facing problems, but added that the only way to solve the problems and save the country from poverty and backwardness is to keep the torch of science and knowledge lit and pay attention to the sound education of the Afghan children.

The former president added “With the declaration of constant support and renewed gratitude to the dear teachers, I am sure that you will try as always to educate the children of the country so that we can witness a prosperous and progressive Afghanistan”.

Meanwhile, he once again called on Taliban interim government to reopen secondary schools for Afghan girls and facilitate better education for both boys and girls.

In another event, the former president had a telephone conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

In these talks, the ongoing situation of Afghanistan has been discussed and both sides emphasized on the further development of good relations between the two countries.

The former president called Turkey a historical friend of Afghanistan and expressed his gratitude for the country’s assistance and cooperation with Afghanistan.
