KABUL: Former President Hamid Karzai met Monday with the Chinese ambassador in Kabul, Wang Yu—where the Chinese ambassador gave a briefing on the recent visit of his country’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi to Kabul and handed over his gift to the former president.
Karzai’s Office said in a statement that the former president called China a friend country and thanked Beijing’s cooperation with Afghanistan.
Karzai expressed hopes that the results of the China meeting benefit the people of Afghanistan.
A meeting of the foreign ministers of the neighboring countries is due to be held soon in Beijing, where the current Afghan situation will be discussed.
He also hoped for China and other neighboring countries’ assistance for providing educational scholarship to the girls and boys students in Afghanistan.
