Karzai meets with Afghan students studying in India

KABUL: Former President Hamid Karzai met with the Afghan students who are studying in India, most of whom were granted scholarships by the Indian government.  

Former President’s office said in a statement the students who are at the level of bachelor’s and master degrees as well PhDs, called on the Indian government to provide them facilities to return back to India and continue their lessons.

“The president praised the students for their interest to continue their education and promised to provide them any type of assistance so the students can go back to participate in their classes in India,” the statement said.

Earlier, dozens of students who were studying on scholarships in India, staged protests in front of the country’s embassy in Kabul, where they called on Delhi to facilitate their return to India thus they can continue their lessons.
