Pakistan sends back its envoy to Kabul

AT

Kabul: Pakistani Chargé d’Affaires to Afghanistan Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani has returned to Kabul, more than four months after he survived an attempt on his life, Pakistani media reported.

In December last year, Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul came under attack, leaving one security guard critically injured. The Pakistan Foreign Ministry said that Mr Nizamani, who remained unhurt in the attack, was the target. The IS-K terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack.

At the time, Mr Nizami was in Kabul for less than a month since he took over the charge as head of mission, replacing former ambassador Mansoor Ahmed Khan on Nov 4 last year.

Meanwhile on Saturday Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had a phone call with Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Motaghi and discussed mutual political issues.
