KABUL: A number of political leaders strongly criticize an order by the Supreme Court that let President Ghani stay in power after his tenure ends on May 22.
The Council of Peace and Savior of Afghanistan, a political party called on Tuesday the Supreme Court order, illegally and against the laws of the country.
Gul Rahman Qazi, head of the party said that President Ghani could continue working for only 27 days, adding that only the people of Afghanistan can decide whether he stays in office after that day.
Qazi reiterated that the intra-Afghan dialogue that was cancelled to be held on April 19 in Qatar due to the government’s interference, should be held with impartial participants who are reliable for all Afghans and honestly work for peace.
He said that Afghans need to ignore their personal privileges and use properly any chance for peace.
The party released a resolution that reads peace belongs to Afghans and they would stand against those who oppose this process.
All the politicians unanimously call President Ghani’s work after his term illegal, calling on him to step down after May 22.
