Kabul: The Afghanistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Russian Ambassador Dmitry Zhirnov in Kabul met with the interim Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mawlavi Amir Khan Motaghi.
The ministry spokesman said that political, security and economic cooperation between Afghanistan and Russia were discussed in detail during this meeting.
According to the foreign minister, it was said that Afghanistan is interested in expanding its political and economic relations with Russia. Mr. Motaghi emphasized that Security in Afghanistan is well maintained and there are no threat from Afghanistan to other countries.
He that the Russian ambassador also emphasized on close relations between the two countries and expressed his readiness for the government delegation to visit different sectors in the future.
Last year Russian embassy in Kabul was attacked and some embassy staff were killed and injured. Following that incident, Russia temporarily closed the consular services of its embassy in Kabul.
