Save the Children resumes some activities in Afghanistan


Kabul: David Wright, the operational manager of Save the Children Fund, says that all the activities of this organization in Afghanistan have been stopped for almost a month.

According to Mr. Wright, the activity of female employees is very important for providing services and without women they cannot carry out their work.

He added that about 50% of the staff of the Child Rescue Department is made up of women and that they play a vital role in providing aid to women and children.

Save the Children International has said that many of its programs in Afghanistan have been suspended, but activities are now resuming in the health, food and education sectors.

Mr. Wright added that after receiving the necessary assurances from the authorities regarding the safety and security of the female employees in this institution, they will resume parts of their activities.

Recently the United Nations officials have warned of -35°C of cold weather in which endanger lives of many people, especially children in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile yesterday, five people died of frostbite in Badghis province.

According to aid agencies, the number of needy people in Afghanistan is currently estimated at 25 million people, and this number will reach to 28 million during 2023.

Save the Children organization is working in Afghanistan since 1970s through many political changes in the country to deliver life-saving services to children and their families across the country.
