AT News Report-KABUL: A senior Daesh commander was killed in an airstrike orchestrated by Afghan security forces in northern Jawzjan province, official said on Saturday.
Ministry of Defense Spokesman Mohammad Radmanish said that Afghan forces targeted and killed a senior Daesh commander along with his two guards in Darzab district of Jawzjan.
“He sustained a critical injury after the Thursday strike and later succumbed to his injuries on Friday,” said Radmanish, adding that he was buried in Bibi Maryam area of Darzab district in the province. “He was a key IS commander in the north zone and spearheaded major attacks,” he said.
A statement sent by the 209th Shaheen Corps also confirmed that Qari Hekmatullaha senior commander of Daesh was killed along his guardsin an airstrike conducted by Afghan air forces in Sardara area of Darzab district on Thursday.
The statement quoting a report said that Mawlawi Hab-u-Rahman, permanent resident of Sholgar district of northern Balkh province, was assigned as the successor of Qari Hekmatullah.
