KABUL: Six people, including a child, were killed after the car they were traveling in fell into a river in Badakhshan province on Sunday, said officials.
The incident occurred in Baharak-Faizabad highway in the Khwaja Abdal area after the vehicle veered off and fell into the river.
Police Spokesman Sanaulllah Rohani said the rescue teams had arrived at the scene and have taken out four bodies so far. Efforts are underway to find two other bodies.
This as earlier, at least 11 students lost their lives in the same incident of vehicle sinking in the Kukcha River in the same province.
