KABUL – The Taliban government is convening an international meeting in Kabul on Monday, marking their first official diplomatic conference since assuming power in Afghanistan.

This conference, named “Afghanistan Regional Cooperation Initiatives,” is organized by the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, welcoming special representatives and ambassadors from neighboring and regional countries. The event aims to foster comprehensive discussions on enhancing cooperation between Afghanistan and its regional counterparts, as stated by Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, spokesperson for the foreign affairs ministry.

While the participating nations and representatives remain undisclosed, the agenda includes dialogue on developing regional cooperation, emphasizing common interests, mutual respect, and exploring opportunities for regional connectivity and transit, according to the foreign affairs ministry’s statement.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan expresses its commitment to discussing ways for regional interaction, grounded in shared interests and mutual respect. This initiative focuses on creating opportunities for regional connectivity and transit.

This pivotal conference precedes the upcoming Doha conference on the situation in Afghanistan, under the leadership of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The gathering will witness the presence of envoys from various nations, Afghan civil rights activists, women representatives, and delegates from the Taliban government.
