Traffic accident in Salang Highway leaves one dead

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least one person was killed and three others wounded following a traffic accident in Salang Highway (Salang Pass), said official on Monday.

Head of Traffic Department in Parwan, Mehrabuddin Parwani, said the incident took place on Monday morning when an oil tanker collided with a truck in Salang Highway, leaving one dead and three others injured.

He added that the incident took place in Olang area in southern parts of the highway.

Salang Highway is one of the important routes in the country that connect northern and central parts. Lack of traffic signs, destroyed roads and carelessness of drivers are main reasons of deadly traffic incidents in the country’s highways.

In the meantime, health officials in Parwan said that tens of people have been injured as a result of different incidents during Eid days.

Ishaq Nadimi, a physician in Parwan public hospital, said at least 40 people were shifted to the hospital during Eid celebrations which were wounded due to different incidents.

He said women and children were also among the wounded.

It is said that traffic indigents have surged by 20 percent in Parwan during Eid days.
