600 voter booklets disappeared; IEC
A day after the opposition alliance uncovered thousands of counterfeited identity cards and voter stickers, the independent election commission admitted that stacks of voter registration booklets had mysteriously disappeared or had been burnt by armed militants.
The election commission admitted that it had already been apprised of reports suggesting existence of fake voter stickers and booklets, but said all those documents were void and invalid.
The IEC said that 60 voter registration booklets had been stolen or burned down by militants. However, the commission said all those booklets had been invalidated and excluded from the ballot list.
This is as the Grand National alliance uncovered on Saturday thousands of fake Tazkiras and voter stickers and tens of counterfeited booklets, insinuating that the government and its election body are engineering elections to their liking.
