By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: At least five civilians were killed and 16 others wounded in a suicide attack in front of the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, said officials.
Kabul Police’s spokesman Ebadullah Karimi said that a suicide bomber detonated his explosive-laden car in front of the Hamid Karzai International Airport in the capital city, leaving five killed and 16 injured.
Condemning the terror attack, he said the bomber had no clear target but to kill innocent civilians.
The blast was carried out at the first security checkpoint.
Meanwhile, the spokesman to Ministry of Public Health, Wahidullah Mayar, told media that following the blast, hospitals in the city received four dead bodies and 18 injured.
Smoke and fire billowed to the sky from the scene of the attack and terror spread at the site.
The Taliban took responsibility for the attack.
After death reports of the Taliban figurehead Mullah Mohammad Omar, the militant group unleashed a new wave of violence in Afghanistan. The new controversial leader of the group, Mullah Akhtar Mansoor, in his message hinted to continue terror attacks.
Mansoor who is in Pakistan is protected by the ISI agents. The new Taliban leader authorizes terror attacks from Pakistan to please the Pakistani military establishment.
Since Friday this was the 4th attack in the capital city. More than 400 people were killed and injured in the terror attacks in the past three days.
