MoI seeks Russia’s cooperation in fight against IS

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) urged Russia to cooperate with Afghanistan in fight against the Islamic State (IS) fighters.

Seddiq Seddiqi, spokesman for the MoI, said that Russia’s cooperation in war against IS, also known as Daesh, will prove effective. He added that presence of the militant group in Afghanistan is threat to the region and the entire world. Seddiqi stressed on cooperation from regional countries in fight against the menace. “Russia and other regional countries, that are facing threat from IS should join hands with Afghanistan in fight against the terrorist group,” Radio Azadi quoted Seddiqi as saying.

Russian President Vladimir Putin in a meeting with the ex-President Hamid Karzai recently expressed his deep concerns over presence of the terrorist group in Afghanistan.

Wolesi Jirga also expressed its concerns over increasing presence of IS fighters in Afghanistan, particularly in eastern Nangarhar province.

A number security analysts confirmed presence of Daesh in Afghanistan and stressed on regional and global cooperation in fight against the terrorist group.

Former deputy minister of interior, Mirza Muhammad Yarmand, said that the government should devise a clear mechanism for fight against IS. “The entire world should join hands in fight against the group,” he stressed.
