12 Daesh fighters killed in Nangarhar
AT-KABUL: 12 armed members of the terrorist group of Daesh were killed in several airstrikes, carried out by Afghan and foreign forces in insecure districts of the eastern Nangarhar province, officials said Friday.
These terrorists were killed during three separate airstrikes, carried out over the past 24 hours in Nazyan, Haska-Mena and Achin districts of Nangarhar, the governor office said in a statement emailed to Afghanistan Times on Friday.
The first strike was carried out against a group of Daesh fighters in Awghaz village of Haska-Mena district in which seven fighters were killed.
Two separate strikes also eliminated five other terrorists in Nazyan and Achin districts of Nangarhar, a province which is considered as the main stronghold of Daesh in the country.
The ground and air operations against Daesh were stepped up by Afghan and foreign forces in recent months, after the group carried out several deadly terrorist attacks against civilians in the province.
During these terrorist attacks tens of civilians including 13 members of the Sikh community were killed while hundreds of others were injured.
Afghan special forces who are leading the operations over the past few weeks have cleared several remote villages of the insecure districts from the presence of the terrorist group.
