4 health workers, driver abducted in Herat

AT-KABUL: Unknown gunmen abducted four health workers and a driver in western Herat province, said a security official.

Herat Police Spokesman, Abdul Rauf Ahmadi, said that the health workers were abducted en route to Ghorian district the other day. The workers were kidnapped somewhere between Zendajan and Ghorian districts, Ahmadi said.

He added that the health workers hadn’t coordinated their trip with security organizations in the province.

Ahmadi said that police have launched a search operation in Ghorian district to secure safe release of the captives.

He said that it was not clear if the kidnapped health workers were foreigners.
