AT-KABUL: Seventy-one Taliban fighters were killed and 32 others were wounded in different operations carried out by the security forces, according to security officials.
Ministry of Defense said Sunday that the national army with the cooperation of the national police and National Directorate of Security, conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Kandahar, Laghman, Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Logar, Wardak, Farah, Ghor, Baghlan, Takhar, Jawzjan, Kunduz, Badakhshan and Helmand provinces.
“In these operations71 rebels including five Taliban commanders and six Daesh fighters were killed and 32 others including two Daesh were injured,” the ministry said in a statement.
Afghan forces also arrested six rebels and handed over them to judicial organs for further inquiry, it added.
“The army discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.”
Unfortunately, nine army soldiers were killed in the operations as well, according to the statement.
