Over 100 Nangarhar residents in IS captivity: Locals

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Tribal elders in eastern Nangarhar province on Wednesday claimed that 130 residents were still in captivity of the Islamic State (IS).

The Islamic State, also known as Daesh, has recently released a video footage showing 10 Afghan civilians killed brutally. The footage has shook-up the nation.

According to TOLOnews, the elders asked the government to rescue the 130 hostages from clutches of the godless Daesh; otherwise they would have the same fate if not freed.

Malik Kamin, a tribal elder from Achin district, said the 10 people killed by the IS were from Achin and Behsud districts of the province.

“No human has witnessed such a brutal act so far as Daesh did against civilians in Nangarhar which was seen in footage,” TOLOnews quoted Asadullah, a resident of Nangarhar, as saying.

However, the provincial governor Saleem Kunduzi rejected claims of the residents about abduction of more than 100 residents by the IS, saying that he has not received any report in this regard.

The governor said that they have seen the footage and was trying to eliminate the terrorist group from the province.
