AT-KABUL: Over 20 Taliban fighters including a key member of Quetta Shura have been killed and 15 others wounded, after Afghan air forces targeted a Taliban gathering in Northern Kunduz province on Monday.

Afghan air forces targeted a Taliban meeting in Dasht-e-Archi district of Kunduz and killed over 20 Taliban fighters including Mawlawi Baryal, Taliban Quetta Shura member, Mawlawi Shahidullah, Taliban military commission Chief for Kunduz, Mawlawi Mumtaz, and Taliban Trainer for the Red Unit in Kunduz, said 209th Shaheen Corps Spokesman Hanif Rzaie,

“The gathering of the Taliban was an important one as they were planning important insurgent activities against the government,” he said, the meeting was attended by some foreign Taliban leaders in Dasht-e-Archi including Taliban Quetta Shura member.

He said the airstrikes were carried out by MD-530 small attack shoppers in which 15 other Taliban members including commanders were injured. This is initial information; number of the militant casualties is highly like to rise, he reckoned.

It was an effective airstrike which inflicted heavy casualties on the Taliban, he added.
