Security forces stage pre-dawn raids on suspected Islamic State fighters, killing 14
Afghan security forces have killed at least fourteen Islamic State terrorists in a series of pre-dawn raids in Nangarhar where the authorities strengthened measures to crack down on the terrorist network which is emerging as an impregnable threat.
Security forces staged dawn operations against Daesh terrorists in Shahidan area of Rodat district late on Tuesday night, killing 14 terrorists and wounding four, said Deputy Spokesman of Interior Minister Nasrat Rahimi.
He asserted that the armed forces also apprehended six suspected Islamic State terrorists during the clampdown.
Although there is no official confirmation, residents claimed on Wednesday government troops killed at least seventeen civilians during the military operation in the Rodat. They said seven members of one family including children were among the victims of the operation which was conducted in Shahidano Mena.
Families of the victims shut down a highway leading to the Torkham crossing with Pakistan while laying the corpses under a tent to protest the carnage. They demanded government take the incident serious and run a thorough investigation.
In Nangarhar, both Daesh and Taliban insurgents are present in different districts conducting subversive anti-government operations.
