Taliban say fulfilled conditions for recognition

AT News

KABUL: The Taliban government said on Friday that it had fulfilled all conditions set by the international community for it to be recognized as a legitimate government.

Deputy Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, Bilal Karimi, said they expect the regional countries and the world to engage with the Afghans and recognize the current government under the leadership of the Islamic Emirate.

“Therefore, the Islamic Emirate would be able to responsibly engage in (resolving) the problems and challenges with the world,” he said.

This comes days after Russia’s Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson said the Taliban should fulfill the expectations of the international community in order to be recognized.

“The Taliban should fulfill the expectation of the international community for the formation of an inclusive government based on ethnicity, countering the terrorism and freedom of citizens,” said Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Federations’ foreign ministry.

To resolve the ongoing challenges, political experts said that Afghanistan needs to be recognized by the world.
