Ten Daesh fighters arrested in Kabul: NDS

AT-KABUL: The National Directorate of Security (NDS) Friday said its operatives arrested ten loyalists terrorist of Daesh (Islamic States of Iraq and Syria) in the Kabul province.

A statement issued by NDS said the captured rebels were tasked by the commander of Daesh Obidullah to conduct terrorist activities including assault on the Kart-e-Sakhi shrine, Attack on vehicles of prominent figures and recruiting the fighters in different areas of Kabul province.

“The terrorist group also makes differences between Shia and Sunni sects by sending their fighters to take videos and specified the populated mosque to do suicide attacks,” the statement said.

In the meantime, there are rising concerns that Daesh, which is mainly active in Iraq and Syria, is now seeking to gain a foothold in Afghanistan’s troubled east.

Daesh has reportedly managed to take recruits from Taliban defectors in the eastern of Nangarhar province, which borders Pakistan. Reports say the Takfiri terrorist group has recruited some 2,500 members in Afghanistan.

In August, Daesh claimed responsibility for a bombing during a demonstration held by the Shia Hazara community in the Afghan capital, Kabul, where at least 80 people were killed.

The surge in terrorist activities across Afghanistan comes despite the presence of forces from the US and other NATO members there.

The ministry of defense said in a report released earlier October that more than 600 civilians had been killed by Daesh terrorists over the past six months.

Afghan forces announced victory following a long operation in Achin, Shinwar, and some other districts of Nangarhar.
