After Takhar carnage, poll panel urges ‘maximum security measures’
KABUL: Amid an aggravation of election violence, the independent election commission on Sunday called upon Afghan forces to reinforce security of the entire election processin order to ensure a vast voter turnout and safe election.
Security forces must ensure people that the parliamentary election will be held in a safe and peaceful situation in 20 October, said IEC Spokesman Hafiz Hashimi.
Speaking at a press conference, he said that as the security forces committed to the IEC, seriously operate for reinforcement of security during polling process.
While voicing pleasure over security forces for helping the IEC in successfully completion of voters’ registration process, he said that considering the mentioned achievement, the polling process will be run smoothly with the support of security forces throughout the country.
He said that 5100 election center will be opened all over the country.
Parliamentary election won’t be held in 10 districts due to security reasons, he added.
He stated that all the controversial material of election including biometric tools reached to the center of 33 provinces, which from the centers of the province will be transferred to the district.
Pointing to the president decree regarding interference of governmental officials in election, he said that president has ordered the arrest and prosecution of any government official who tries to interfere in the election process on Election Day.
Till now over 234,000 figures have received observer cards from the IEC in order to monitor the upcoming parliamentary election, he noted.
