At least 100 rebels killed in wake of army raids
AT-KABUL: At least 96 militants were killed and 39 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns within the past two days, said military officials on Tuesday.
In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense(MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktika, Uruzgan, Farah, Zabul, Balkh, Ghor, Faryab, Jawzjan, Samangan, Kunduz, Baghlan and Helmand provinces.
Statement said that in these operations96insurgents including a local commander of Taliban were killed and 39others wounded.
During operation 29 others militants were arrested and handed over to judicial organs for further inquiry.
Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations in the past 24 hours,33 Taliban fighters were killed, 12 wounded and 23 suspects were arrested in Bala Blok district of Farah, 22 insurgents were killed and 13 others wounded in Chamtal district of Balkh, 15 militants were killed, 10 wounded and 30 motorbikes belonged to the enemy destroyed, in Khamab district of Jawzjan, 12 Taliban militants including a Red Unit commander were killed and one wounded in Ajristan district of Ghazni, seven rebels were killed and two others wounded in Khas Uruzgan district of Uruzgan province.
Similar, four insurgents were killed and six others wounded in Dolina and Shahrak district of Ghor, two terrorists were killed and another wounded in Aqtepa Bazaar of Kunduz, one militant was killed in Zabul and one insurgents was arrested in Nangarhar province
In past 24 hours,11planed clearing operations,and 81 Special Forcesoperations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted81 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including15strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANAdiscovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
